14 July 2023 – The Alumni Association of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Premier University Chattogram (AAEEPUC), held its much-anticipated Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Friday, marking a significant milestone in the journey toward a more structured and active alumni body.

The meeting commenced with a welcome address from Joint Convener Mr. Farhad Uddin, followed by a brief summary of the association’s past initiatives presented by Convener Mr. Stavak Dash. A moment of silence was observed to honor the memory of alumni and faculty members who have passed away.

The highlight of the session was a comprehensive discussion on the association’s constitution, moderated by Mr. Mohammed Saifuddin Munna. Valuable feedback and suggestions were collected from participating alumni, reflecting a strong sense of ownership and community engagement.

Two key issues led to voting during the discussion:

1. Membership Term & Fee – Alumni can become general members for a period of 2 years upon payment of BDT 300.
2. Election Eligibility – For the first election only:
• President Candidates must be from 1st to 6th batch.
• General Secretary Candidates must be from 1st to 10th batch.
• No other executive positions will be restricted by batch.

With the consensus of the general body and based on majority votes, the constitution was approved and officially adopted.

As advised by the Advisory Committee, Mr. Akram Ul Haque (faculty, EEE Department) was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner. On 15 July 2023, Mr. Sharith Dhar and Mr. Asif Mohammad Siddiquee were nominated as Election Commissioners by the Advisory Committee.

Due to Ashura holidays, the election date was rescheduled to Friday, 28 July 2023, one day earlier than the previously announced date.

With the formation of the Election Commission, the Ad-Hoc Committee officially concluded its responsibilities, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all members for their support and cooperation. The committee expressed confidence that the newly elected body will drive the association forward with renewed energy and unity.
